Noesis
An application that streamlines fraud detection and reporting for financial institutions
UI Design, UX Design, Prototyping
Problem
Financial institutions are required to file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when detecting potential money laundering or fraud. But finding those cases manually is slow, error-prone, and often misses more complex patterns.
Opportunity
Create a B2B tool that uses machine learning to learn from past SARs, spot unusual patterns traditional systems might miss, and automatically fill out report forms, saving investigators time and reducing manual work.
Overview
Noesis helps financial institutions find suspicious activity fast. It surfaces anomalies, handles the docs, and pre-fills SARs to save time and boost accuracy.

Target Users & Insights
The ideal users for Noesis are fraud investigators at mid-sized banks. They deal with dozens of cases weekly and want intuitive tools that reduce busywork. They are happy for AI to handle tasks like document prep and translation, as long as they make the final decisions.

Product Design & Features
Noesis gives investigators case history tracking, AI summaries, a dynamic questionnaire that adapts to uploaded documents, and SAR forms that auto-fill from their answers. They can sort and filter cases, review AI-generated narratives, and edit everything before filing. AI text appears in blue, while their own edits show in black so it’s easy to tell them apart.

Designing Noesis challenged me to balance automation with human accountability. I had to consider not only usability but also legal and ethical implications of AI in financial systems. It pushed me to think critically about what tasks should be automated and what decisions require human judgment. Future updates could include collaborative features like team visibility, messaging, and shared progress tracking to enhance teamwork and transparency.
